Frequently asked questions
Q: What do I need to bring with me for my first lesson?
A: All riders need to have a signed release form on file with Aries Farm by the beginning of their first lesson. Bring water to stay hydrated and a helmet if you have one. Be sure to wear long pants and close-toed shoes that have a half-inch heel.

Q: What kind of shows do you attend?
A: Aries Farm, LLC attends all levels of horse shows and Western Saddle Clubs Association (WSCA) events, as well as schooling shows for beginners interested in competing. We’ll certainly add shows not listed in our schedule if there’s enough interest.

Q: Why should I ride horses?
A: Horseback riding is a great activity for the body and mind. Riding increases the strength of the core, leg, arm and back muscles. It develops coordination and flexibility. Experience with horses is also shown to reduce stress. Riders learn teamwork and humility in dealing with a 1,000-pound animal.

Q: Is this sport year-round?
A: Yes, we offer lessons year-round. In the case of extreme weather or other extenuating circumstances, we’ll notify you in advance of any cancellations.

Q: What will I learn at Aries Farm as a new rider?
A: New riders will not only learn how to ride a horse, but also the basics on how to care for them as well. This includes grooming, tacking, basic first aid and maintaining stalls.

Q: Are there lessons for adults?
A: Yes! We encourage adults to take lessons. Horseback riding is great for you, no matter your age.
Q: Do I need to own a horse?

Q: As an owner, do I need to provide my own vet or farrier?
A: We’d be happy to work with your vet or farrier if you already have one. However, our vet and farrier are both professional and trustworthy, and they’d be happy to care for your horse.
Q: What kind of feed does Aries Farm use? Will you feed my supplements?
A: Aries Farm uses Tribute and Purina brand feeds. We’ll gladly use other feed and/or incorporate supplements into your horse’s feed if you provide them to us.

Q: What kind of clothes should I wear to the barn?
A: All persons interacting with horses need to wear close-toed shoes. Riders need to wear shoes with a half-inch heel.
In the summer, riders should wear long pants and a modest top. In the winter, please dress warmly! Whether sitting or riding, it gets cold. Remember to wear a hat, gloves and multiple layers. We recommend hand or toe warmers.
Please remember that this is a barn. Don't wear anything you can't get dirty.

Q: Can my family and friends watch me ride?
